IN 1925
A 16-bedroom hotel opened its doors to the public in what is now known as the southwest corner of Cavill Avenue and the Gold Coast Highway. Around the hotel, the township of Elston emerged with a post office and amenities providing refreshments for surfers and holiday makers. As more and more people discovered Surfers Paradise, local residents lobbied relentlessly until, in 1933, the township was re-christened SURFERS PARADISE—resigning ELSTON to the pages of history.

IN THE 21st CENTURY
Surfers Paradise is recognised around the world as Australia’s premier holiday destination and Elston is returning from the pages of history to be re-born as ELSTON GRANDSURF RESORT—a 17 story tribute to the vision of those early settlers, surfers and holiday makers that recognised Elston as a true paradise.
